Sculptures

Many of the sculptures and installations I developed since 1998 could be described as “spatial drawings”. They derive from the warp stretched on a loom - resembling a stringed instrument. The warp, as a not yet fully materialized tissue, hovers somewhere between matter and thought. To me, its fragility and strength are a metaphor of life.

My work translates natural forms and rhythms into installations which respond to man-made space in a site-specific way. I use the corners, angles, edges and lines of a constructed space as starting point to embed organic shapes. The resulting simple geometric forms echo those of nature and resonate visually with man-made space.

Since 2007 my work also integrates aspects such as landscapes and the social history of a place. This often involves extensive research which I describe and record in the 'Work in Progress' section of this website.
